I've been dreading for this night, but oh well, it's here - the day of presentation!
So we have basically spent the entire April and May focusing on a specific Italian site to investigate. Our location was Rimini and San Marino, and we focused on the political vs. cultural independence of San Marino from Italy (and more specifically Rimini). The presentation was not the bad part, but the fact that the audience is our Italian host families was horrible! Not because we don't love them (of course we do), but because that means that we had to explain everything in Italian. (Not to mention, we are also being graded based on our Italian proficiency).
Thankfully, the presentation went very well. We made poster boards with some information for each subject (e.g. Art History, Ancient History, Global, etc.) that we were responsible for, and we made the famous torre (towers) of San Marino ourselves!
If someone told me in August that I would be able to talk in Italian for 2 hours about politics, ancient ruins, and art pieces in 9 months from now, I would not have believed him/her. But I just did it! It is amazing to think about how far we have come in terms of our grasp of the language and the culture of our new home Italy.
