Yesterday, we went to a local farm in Tuscania (a town in the province of Viterbo) for this year's orientation.
From the beginning, I was strucken by not only the farm's beauty (as you will see from the photos below) but also its history. We were standing on Via Clodia, which is one of the oldest roads of Western civilization. That's right: something that was constructed in the 2nd century BCE is still there.
We as a school spent much time reflecting on our experiences so far, and although some moments were sub-par, I had a great time overall. I was at peace, taking in the scenery from the wodden bench swing. I sang the notorious song "Cups" with my friends (we even attempted to sing an italian song to the beat of "Cups"). I took my friend's camera and took a bunch of awkward close-ups of people.
Although I was very stressed out this entire week, this orientation gave me time to breathe and think about all the things that happened so far. It made me want to take more time out of my life appreciating all the things I get to experience.
P.S. I am still bitter though because in previous years, SYA Italy took its students to a beach for 4 days! Of course, this year, the school decided to take its students to a farm... Whatever haha
