Today was unordinary, in a very good way.
First of all, my mom and I were trapped inside our house for 20 minutes in the morning because the electricity went out. The front gates were not responding to our remote controllers, so we had to manually unlock the doors. Of course, her keys did not work, so we had to ask our host dad to come back from work, just to get us out of our own house... So I got to school very late.
Then, one of my teachers took a day off because he was sick. Well, he teaches two of my six classes, so I was done with my classes at eleven. So I did nothing and just did tomorrow's homework during the regular school hours - it was great.
And out of the blue, there he was - my old math teacher from Episcopal. Because he has Thanksgiving break right now, he decided to fly all the way to Viterbo to see his friend (aka my school director). It was so weird to see him here in Italy. We caught up, and I shared my experience so far. Hope I see him as he spends his week in this rather small town whose entirety can be seen in less than a day.
Then, as part of our Italian class, we had a cheese tasting for two hours, as every cultured Italian should! One thing I learned: I am not a huge fan of cheese. Yet, it was nice to enjoy a very diluted white wine and try out 10 different types of cheese. Quite pleasant and relaxing.
But the most annoying thing happened: I forgot to call my host dad to come pick me up at the bus stop. Apparently, he went to the city center to take care of some business. So I had to sit in the middle of the piazza for an hour, doing nothing. Meanwhile, the bell tower rang to inform the inhabitants that it was 7 o'clock and I was delightly surprised.
So yeah, rather a bizzare day. Little events can really make a difference for sure. I am excited to see what unexpected events might happen tomorrow.
