Sono a Parigi! I am currently writing this post in my friend's apartment right by the Louvre. The view at night is stunning and her house is incredibly pretty to the point where I almost feel undeserving to be able to enjoy this.
Anyway, the whole trip went very smoothly. Of course, we had an "Italian movie Friday" today, so we left around 12 to catch a train to the Rome Fiumicino airport. When we arrived, however, we were very confused. The train station was literally inside the airport, and as soon as the "guards" (2 old men) checked our train tickets, they let us into the airport without any security or baggage checks or anything similar. (Isn't the security supposed to be heightened due to the fear of terrorism??)
Not a lot of people were on the plane as promised. When we booked the flight, there were only few seats left, but I guess many cancelled their travel plans due to the recent attacks. So we had the entire row (somewhat) to ourselves (plus a nice French businessman who knew English and really wanted to be part of our conversation).
I am excited to be here in Paris. Of course, this is my first time here, and it is also my first time outside Italy since August. But I think I am more excited/nervous/curious to feel the current vibe of the city. Has stuff changed ever since the attacks?
Meanwhile, enjoy these photos that I took from the balcony of the apartment. I can see the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Notre Dame...
