Orvieto and a Movie

Today, we went to Orvieto, a nearby town in a region called Umbria. Because I have visited the place in March, during which I went on a school trip to various cities in Italy, the streets and shops were very familiar.

We visited the famous cathedral, and we stayed in Orvieto for a while to see the facade both at day and at night. I remembered that there was one particular chocolate shop that I went to in March, so I led my group to that cafe. It was still there, and the hot chocolate was as good as ever.

For our homework for Capstone (again), we had to interview two different Italians in Orvieto, and surprisingly, the process went very well. Throughout the day, I constantly noticed how much Italian I have learned so far. For some reason, Orvieto was very touristy and filled with especially Asian tourists (which I found funny since Orvieto is a very small town). So when I walked into various shops, they greeted me in English. Then, of course, I ordered stuff or asked the owners questions in Italian, and all of them remarked "Sai parlare italiano molto bene!" Quite frankly, it was flattering.

When we came back, Eva, Tyler, and I went to Vitorchiano (10 minutes away from Viterbo) to go watch a movie (which is our homework for one of the classes). I was initially disappointed by the outside; the theater looked gray and sketchy. The inside, however, was fantastic. No wonder why all our Italian teachers praised this "Americanized" movie theater. We could even carry outside food into the showroom, so we carried pizza into the theater. We ended up watching "The Good Dinosaur" because all movies were in Italian. We figured that watching an animated film in Italian would not be so hard to understand, and we were right. Except for one scene, we understood the entire film almost perfectly. The visuals obviously helped us a lot.

Unfortunately, I feel like I am getting sick, so hopefully, I will feel better tomorrow.
