Today, after saying goodbye to Marly, who went back to Rome early, we decided to rest a little bit more. So we ate late breakfast at a nearby Ladurée and decided to pay a visit to the Orsay Museum. Of course, however, it was closed because it was Monday. So instead, we decided to visit the Louvre again, but this time we walked inside.
Louvre was so big! We decided to see the famous Sphinx and Mona Lisa and then visit the section dedicated to ancient Greek art (since we are studying that period in Art History). We ended up seeing so many pieces that we covered during class, including the Parthenon frieze and an interpretation of Athena Nike and Aphrodite. Seeing artworks first-hand was definitely inspiring.
While waiting for Isabelle, Courtney and Margaret decided to go shopping while I waited for everyone at a nearby Pret a Manger. There, I saw a French couple with a cute daughter speaking both Korean and French mixed. I was so excited to hear Korean that I approached to them and said a nice "hello" in Korean. We talked for a while and shared stories about how we ended up in Europe.
After eating Japanese food, everyone decided to go to the Champs to go watch the Hunger Games. Meanwhile, I decided to go back home. Unfortunately, that was a bad mistake. As soon as I got home, I left everything in the living room and, while going to the bathroom, locked myself out. So I patiently but irritatingly waited for 2 hours for everyone to come back and get me inside the apartment. Let me just say, it was not a fun experience trying to fall asleep in a public hallway... But at least, I have a painfully funny memory of Paris that I can hold on to!
