Spring Break Part 2: Riomaggiore

Yesterday evening, right before the sun started to set, we arrived in Riomaggiore via our good ol' friend Trenitalia (Italian train system). I must mention that I planned out the timing in a way that we had just enough time to drop our bags and go see the sunset (so you are very welcome haha)

During our check-in, we talked to the lady in Italian (ovviamente), and she made a comment about how we speak better Italian than most Italian teenagers!! She told me how teenagers don't really follow the grammatical rules anymore, but we as foreigners learn how to speak in correct grammar. So I thought that was quite hilarious.

Afterwards, we went through this tunnel of ceramic tiles to go to the famous viewing spot right on the seashore/cliff. There were quite a few people when we got there! We sat down, stared at the horizon, and were just knocked out by the beauty for at least good thirty minutes. Take a look at it yourself!

For dinner, we followed Karen, who actually came to Riomaggiore a month ago and knew a nice restaurant near our Airbnb. But when we came back from dinner, we were still hungry, so we made ourselves more pasta... I'm gonna gain 10+ pounds during this trip!!

This morning, we woke up early to go to another village called Corniglia. As some of you may know, Cinque Terre (which is made up of five small villages) are known for hiking trails and colorful buildings along the coast. So we took a train (by pushing hundreds of tourists out of our way) and hiked in Corniglia. Some of my friends didn't feel like walking, so Fi, Eva, and I went on a hike for an hour.

We lost track of time and later realized that we were behind schedule. And we knew that if we were to miss this train back to Riomaggiore, we would also miss our train to Venice. So we ran as fast as we could back to the train station (and got ourselves a hilarious video out of it). And we thankfully made it!

I wish I could come back to Cinque Terre and explore more because I think a day is definitely not enough to truly enjoy everything this place has to offer. But enough of that: next stop is Venezia!!
