I swear that I am not trying to brag through this blog about all the trips that I have gone on! But as the year is wrapping up, SYA Italy is trying to use all its resources for our learning. And for this one, they really went all out; they managed to get in touch with an Italian parliament member who gave us a personalized tour of the Parliament building.
Unfortunately, we were not able to take pictures inside, but we learned a lot about how the political system works here in Italy. Although we have studied the structure of the government and change in ideology over time (including fascism in the 20th century), hearing accounts from a current politician taught us more about the process that is involved in decision-making.
In the afternoon, we divided into various groups, and my team went to the Cappuccini crypt in Rome. There is a room full of skulls and bones that make up the interior design, and you can't really describe it because it is so bizarre and unique. Apparently, it comes from a holy practice to keep the remains of the past religious figures (and because of this, once again, I could not take photos). If you find yourself in Rome, definitely worth a visit!!
We have been on many day trips to Rome, but today was much more meaningful to all of us, I think, because today was our last day trip to Rome. It is crazy to think (actually I don't want to think) that the year is coming to an end. I will definitely try to visit Rome again with my friends to make a more lasting and personal memory of this gorgeous city of Roma.
